My story
I started in the Aesthetic Industry as a new RN injector in 2019. By 2021, I was really focusing on growing my practice while finishing up Nurse Practitioner school which placed me under a great deal of stress. Additionally, I was throwing every skin product imaginable on my skin in an attempt to control the “aging” I was experiencing. Like many others, this obsession with skincare led to more breakouts and skin issues than I had ever experienced. I dealt with Perioral Dermatitis around my mouth, stubborn milia, white heads, and Rosacea around my cheeks, forehead, nose and chin. In an attempt to control these new skin issues, I turned to a Dermatologist who prescribed me Spironolactone, Metronidazole gel, Azelaic acid and Niacinamide. I saw some improvement, but the inflammation and pustules would always return. That’s when I discovered Sulfur.
After some late night research, I started to discover the skin benefits of this naturally occurring element. I came across several peer-reviewed studies that highlighted the anti-inflammatory effects Sulfur had on various skin issues such as Rosacea, Perioral Dermatitis, Eczema, and Acne. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try. Within 12 hours of applying the Sulfur spot cream, my red bumps and pustules had nearly disappeared. I was in shock and couldn’t believe the answer was so simple.

Now onto Saving Face Co.
After my success with Sulfur, I was desperate to find a cleanser to treat and potentially prevent new breakouts and flare-ups, rather than always relying on a spot cream. In my search, I came up nearly empty handed. The cleansers I came across contained fragrances, dyes, and other allergens that would likely clash with my newly sensitive skin. I also found most Sulfur products to be incredibly drying with their high percentages. This sparked my idea for Saving Face. I wanted to create a clean and gentle cleanser formulated with just the right amount of Sulfur (3%) for those with sensitive and problem skin types. The clinical studies showing the benefits of Sulfur on the skin combined with my own personal experience, gave me the push to move forward with my plan and so Saving Face Company was born!
What followed was a deeper dive into healing the skin microbiome and the creation of products infused with Probiotics and Jojoba oil and Squalane to boost and maintain hydration. I soon developed a strong passion for spreading awareness of skincare overuse and advocating for simple and effective skincare.

Struggling with your own Perioral Dermatitis or Rosacea flare? Here are some actionable tips:
- STOP using any actives like exfoliating acids, retinols, Vitamin C serums etc. These are common triggers for both Rosacea and PD.
- START a simple skincare routine with a gentle cleanser like Saving Face’s 3% Sulfur Cleanser. Follow with a probiotic-rich moisturizer that soothes and restores the skin barrier like Saving Face’s Soothing Microbiome Gel Cream.
- Try Pure Hypochlorous acid spray to limit bacterial and fungal infections that can lead to acne flares.
- Prioritize a healthy lifestyle; sleep, hydration, exercise, and eat a diet focused on whole foods.
Healing PD or Rosacea can be a long process and often one of trial and error. By keeping your skincare routine as simple as possible and limiting the ingredients you apply to your skin, you have a greater chance of overcoming the battle.
